The Cross Keys Hotel Canonbie is a stone throw from the Border Esk, one of Scotland's popular Trout and Salmon rivers. Local fishing is by courtesy of the Esk and Liddle Fisheries Association for which weekly tickets are available from the hotel. Fishing and Shooting has always been the mainstay of the Cross Keys Hotel and we welcome back familiar faces year upon year. The Cross Keys Hotel Canonbie is ideally located for those who enjoy the occasional flutter on the horses. Regular meetings are held at Carlisle Racecourse, Kelso and Newcastle. For the Golfer, there are several picturesque Golf Courses of varying standards within a 20 mile radius of Canonbie such as Lockerbie, Carlisle, Dumfries, Lochmaben, Powfoot and Langholm.
For some retail therapy, the City of Carlisle with its historic castle and THE LANES pedestrians shopping centre is only 14 miles away and Dumfries, famed for its connections with Robert Burns, is within easy reach by car.
